Grand Tetons and Tomie's last days as 29

Sept 27-29th

After our amazing time in Yellowstone and waking up to 30 degree weather we decided to head south. We also decided to stay in a cabin and get a hot shower and the warmth of shelter. We got to the Grand Tetons pretty early in the day! I couldn't wait to see the majestic peaks! Here are some pics from our short stay in the Tetons. So far I think it is our favorite place. IT was a short visit but we packed it full of activity!

Thurs Sept 27-

We arrived to Teton NP and were able to check into our cabin at 10am. I took a hot shower before starting our day. We then drove down to Jenny Lake and took a boat across to the trailhead for our hike in the cascade range. Following the hike we caught the sunset at Beaver Creek before heading back to our cabin. We ate dinner at the Chuck Wagon.

Friday sept 28th- Tomie's last day as a 20 something year old. A jammed pack day!

5am: Wake up to catch the sunrise on the peaks - the best time to photograph the peaks is as the first light hits them. We drove to Mormon Row so I could get the barns in my photo. I met a photographer from New England who gave us some tips for our trip once we make it there.

9:30-1:00pm: Horseback riding out on Bear Valley Road with the peaks in our view. Karen's horse was name Mesa and mine was Spike. Spike didn't like to stop so I could take pictures so I just let her do her thing.

1:00-3:00: We went moose watching at Oxbow bend. A moose that had been there sleeping for a day was active this afternoon. He even went for a swim. It was amazing to see all the other photographers with there massive lenses. I had Lens envy but when then the told me what they paid for them, I am much happier that I spent my money on this trip instead.

Trip to Grand Tetons, $7000 for the Lens, Capturing Moose Drool: PRICELESS!

3:45- 5:00: We did a great trail run around String Lake and Leigh Lake. We have been pretty spoiled with our trail runs. I think all but once have we always run lakeside!! I could get use to this.

5:00-6:00pm We drove down Moose-Wilson Jct to Teton Village but on our way we came across another Bull Moose and his Cow. They were so close that even Karen could get a great shoot with her camera. No lens envy this time.

7:00 pm we booked our room in a Jackson, WY motel. Karen took me out to dinner at the local brewery for my birthday and them we headed for a night on the town! We went to the famous Silver Dollar Bar where we were treated to live Bluegrass/ Country Music by The Miller Sisters. We made some new friends and danced the night away.

NO pictures from inside! What happens in the Silver Dollar Bar stays in the Silver Dollar Bar!

Then on to The Million Dollar Cowboy Bar for more live music and more dancing!

2:00am- BED!

Sept 29th: Tomie's first day of 30!!! It was a rough start for me. I shouldn't have let all the people in the bar buy me a birthday drink for sure. Well at least I had fun. We walked around the town and then began our drive to Powell, Wy to visit family and continue celebrating my birthday.
